This is a list of hotels we have stayed at or visited and loved for families with kids of all ages. Whether you are living in or visiting Costa Rica with kids, traveling around and seeing this beautiful country is a little different when you have kids, especailly a large family since not all hotel rooms can fit more than 4 people and not all activities are affordable for families when the cost per person is divided by 4 or more (Please see my Tours Page for activities in these areas, too).

Hotel Luisiana is situated in Santa Ana approx. 20-30 minutes from the San Jose airport, located on Machete Street,. Hotel Luisiana is a boutique hotel, with an incredible view of the surrounding mountains. The hotel dates from the 1950s, and was built as a Louisiana-style home for the original owner, an American, who came to Costa Rica from the American South. Hotel Luisiana’s Italian owners came to Costa Rica in 2008. They completely renovated the property, giving it its new name based on its original building style. The Hotel is an ideal blend of European taste, American comfort, and homemade Italian food.
