Especially large families or those traveling on a budget
because traveling with kids can really add up fast!

This is a list of tours we have done or heard about thru friends that are perfect for families with kids of all ages. Whether you are living in or visiting Costa Rica with kids, traveling around and seeing this beautiful country is a little different when you have kids, especailly a large family since not activities are affordable for families when the cost per person is divided by 4 or more.

If you look up the town of Grecia, World of Snakes is touted as the premiere spot to visit.  So, having 4 kids that love reptiles, we made the trek only to be extremely disappointed.  We paid $10 each to walk around and look at snakes in enclosures with windows so milky and filmy that you could barely locate the animals.  There was no tour guide and very little information printed on each enclosure...basically the name, what they eat, and if they were venemous or not.  It was very disappointing...a tour guide who explains things about each animal makes a huge differnce AND we did not get to handle or hold any of the snakes, which is usually our kids favorite part.  Bottom line...would we go again or recommend World of Snakes to a friend?  Nope, not at all.

Sarchi
Handicraft Center of Costa Rica/Furniture making:
We recently visited the town of Sarchi to see the handicrafts being made and see the finished products.  We visited about 5 gift stores and saw lots of beautiful finished products, but only one had workers working...a lone gentleman was painting an umbrella in the back and while that was fun to watch, we left wanting more.
