Upon arrival in Costa Rica, we settled into our first of probably 3 rentals. We decided prior to coming down that it would be fun and wise to try out different neighborhoods during our stay in Costa Rica so that we could see what we liked best (just in case we decide to buy a vacation house or for our next trip down!).....Surfside Estates (know as Surfside) is a little neighborhood right off Playa Potrero Beach and in between Playa Flamingo (where the kid's school is) and Potrero. It is two blocks from the beach and has all dirt roads, which seem to be getting more and more pot holes every day. There are a few local amenities such as restaurants, a grocery store named "Super Wendy" a smoothie shop, bakery, and meat market. All that we need and all within walking distance! Many expats (families and retirees) live here and find it to be a more authentic living environment vs. living in the more resort-like areas....we hope to try a little of each type of area.....
Here are a couple photos of the house.....
The Living Room looking out at the backyard/pool...
The living room again looking toward the kitchen...
The master bedroom (with monkeys jumping on the bed!)
The pool.....
Our local fruit stand....
A local restaurant just around the corner from our house....
Maxwell's....all open air and a local expat favorite (especially on Fridays for $1 taco night!)
Surfside Estates on Potrero Beach is an 842 lot (and expanding) beachfront subdivision of titled properties. Located in the popular Flamingo/Potrero beach area of Guanacaste Province, this mainly North American development is unique in Costa Rica. Surfside is within minutes of "Playas" Sugar Beach, Prieta Beach, Penca Beach, Flamingo Beach, Conchal Beach and a 20 minute drive from Playa Grande and Playa Tamarindo. The subdivision was originally plotted in the early 1970s and is the prime residential area between Flamingo and the upscale Pacific Heights region.
Within minutes of the new Flamingo marina concession project slated to begin in the very near future, Surfside has become the regions desired living area for those desiring an authentic experience.
Surfside is within easy road access to the Liberia International airport (45 min or 30 minutes if you take the very rough Monkey Trail), Tamarindo (20 min), Playa Grande (20 min) and Playa del Coco (60 min) or 30 min. on the adventurous Monkey Trail. The golf courses of Playa Conchal (10 min), Hacienda Pinilla (45 min) and Papagayo area courses (50 min) are first class.
Local area sport fishing is world class for Marlin and Sailfish, in addition to fabulous local dive spots.
Hi.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Valerie. We are a family of 5 and we will move to CR in 11/2 month and we would like to have some info about the rental near La Paz School. We have been told that Surfside is a nice area. Can you give me some info about where it's nice to live (not too far from the school) and the amount of money that we can expect to pay for a 3 bedrooms. Also, is it better to live in a gated community? Any other info you think we should know, we would appreciate. Our email address is benvalley@hotmail.ca. Thanks.
Hi, we are moving down in August to spend a year with our kids. We are looking for a 3 bedroom home with a pool to rent, do you know of any in your area?
