Today started the first day of our four day weekend. Costa Rican Indenpendance Day is today, so Monday is a holiday. BUT, all festivities were cancelled due to the earthquake. The governement ask that everyone gather items of need for those displaced from their homes instead. The kids' school collected water, powdered milk and diapers. A group of high school kids and a few teachers delivered the items on Friday. Zack came home saying, "I love how La Paz has this great attitude about missing school. Everyone was chill and had no concerns for the couple of kids that would miss 3 periods of school while they delivered the goods. It was like doing this deed was more important than math." Well said Zack, and I am learning, this attitude is essence of this school.....there are many lessons to be learned and many do not happen in the classroom.
SO, I decided to take the kids horseback riding today! William had never been on a horse at all and Zack had only ridden a pony. Marissa was quite nervous after the last Indian Princess horseback outing with the nauty trail horses....but, after this ride, I think she is back being interested in horses. But, the best part was at the end when it started to rain...and I mean pour! We got sopping wet, but it was tons of fun and still warm as heck, so it felt good. Dominic decided to stay behind in the restaurant and took some pictures of us. It was a good horseback riding kind of day!
William on a horse for the first time! He was super excited and not nervous at all.

They "worked" on the road while we were gone! Pot holes and ruts have been terrible....so hopefully this will improve the ride.
